Family needs help with rent
A request for assistance to make a mortgage payment was received at Lex-Care recently:
Danielle
Gilchrist, a case manager at the Manchester Center, is counseling a single mother who needs $700 to pay her landlord.
She is employed full time and is also taking course in retail management to improve her chances of moving up the
employment ladder. Two weeks ago she was promoted, but the change resulted in a time gap in her pay schedule.
She was unable to pay her rent plus the late fee because of the lapse. Once the rent is paid up and she receives her back
pay, she will be able to meet her future living expenses.
Family needs help with mortgage
A request for assistance to make a mortgage payment was received at Lex-Care recently:
Andrew M. Olson, a social worker at James Lane Allen Family Resource Center, submitted a request on behalf
of his clients, a married couple with two children. The need is $750 to meet their mortgage payment.
The husband is employed as a manager in retail sales. His wife is disabled and draws disability benefits.
Unexpected expenses due to a death in the family, the husband having to take unpaid leave to handle the funeral arrangements
and the legal problems as executor of the estate, resulted in nonpayment on their mortgage. Olson has assisted them
in reaching an agreement with the loan service department. When the mortgage arrears are paid and the husband returns
to work, the family will again be financially stable.
